Turman House

Turman House is a community-based halfway house located in Austin, Texas that focuses on community transition, vocational training, and independent living preparation youth ages 16-21 years of age. All residents are first required to complete Independent Living Skills classes and community service. After all educational requirements are satisfied, youth are eligible to work.

Residents are encouraged to take advantage of local vocational training programs to learn skills that will prepare them for a long-term career. Follow-up services are available in three categories of specialized treatment

Turman House also utilizes volunteers from the community to enhance the opportunities for the youth. Volunteers participate in religious, recreational and educational activities. All volunteer activities focus on direct service with the youth.

Turman House serves as a field placement site for interns who may be interested in the juvenile justice field.
